Najma Ismail, a former KTN anchor, stated on March 28 that she had accepted has landed a lucrative gov’t job few days after being fired.

Najma, who was degazetted on Friday, March 17, alongside other board members of the Board of Tourism Regulatory Authority, celebrated another great milestone in her life.

On March 28, Najma affirmed that she was assigned a role in the Office of State House Spokesperson, under Hussein Mohamed.

“In the name of Allah the most Gracious, the most merciful. I celebrate new beginnings,” Najma noted.

At the Office of State House Spokesperson, Najma will work with Public Communication Specialist Hussein Mohammed, a former Citizen TV anchor.

Najma’s responsibilities include developing relationships with media organisations and important local and international communication channels.

The brilliant Journalist will also track communication trends, develop modern communication strategies and coordinate with other departments to drive President William Ruto’s agenda to the public.

At Standard Group PLC, Najma spent almost a decade as an anchor at KTN News. She also hosted a women empowerment programme, a position she helduntil March 2023, when she joined President Wiliam Ruto at State House.

The celebrated Journalist started her career at, Iqra FM, where she worked as a news anchor and reporter. She later joined Radio Africa Group in 2006 as a news anchor and reporter for Classic 105 and Kiss 100.

She is a recipient of several awards and internal accolades for her programme, highlighting several needy cases, especially financially demanding health cases.

In 2017, Najma was awarded one of the Top 30 Muslim Achievers in Kenya, for exemplary performance in media and communication.

The media practitioner is also an alumnus of Aga Khan High School and Kenya Methodist University (KEMU), where she graduated with a Bachelor of Communication and Journalism.

On Friday, March 10, Tourism CS, Peninah Malonza, revoked her appointment to the Tourism Regulatory Authority, alongside communication strategist, Pauline Njoroge, Kalonzo Musyoka’s son Kevin Muasya, Alais Lenana Momoi, and Isaac Muchiri Njangu.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 8 (1) (g) of the Tourism Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretations and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage revokes the appointment of five members,” Malonza directed in a gazette notice released on the same day.

The CS, however, did not explain the reasons for revoking the appointments and neither did she name immediate replacements.
