JUST IN: Court releases Pastor Ezekiel on Sh3 million bond

Pastor Ezekiel Odero has been freed by the Shanzu Law Courts on a Sh3 million bond or a Sh1.5 million cash bail.

In a case involving numerous murders, the prosecution had previously asked to imprison Pastor Ezekiel Odero for 30 days.

However, Shanzu Senior Principal Magistrate Joe Omido rejected the State’s request to keep the man in custody for an additional 30 days.

The New Life Church and Prayer Center’s preacher had already spent seven days in Port Police custody.

Additionally, he must appear at a police station once a week or more frequently as required by law.

Odero is also forbidden from discussing the Shakahola problem in any way.

One of his lawyers Cliff Ombeta had earlier told the Star that they will be asking for favourable bail terms for the client, who has already spent seven days in police custody.

Danstan Omari who is also Odero’s lawyer said they object to such tactics by the State.

“The respondent should be allowed to go home or a charge sheet be produced,” he said.
