Man Fined Ksh.100K For Stealing Cooking Oil, Rice, Sugar worth Ksh. 3,165

After pleading guilty in Nairobi Court to theft from a Naivas store, a Nairobi man was fined Ksh. 100,000 or a one-year jail sentence.

Alvin Linus Chivondo, of Moi Avenue, was charged with theft from the Naivas Supermarket.

The prosecution claims that the 21-year-old male also stole 5 kilograms of rice, honey, tea leaves, and sugar worth Ksh. 3,165.

He pleaded guilty before the court.

According to reports, the accused pretended to be a customer, selecting products off the shelves and packing them into a non-woven carrier bag, according to the court.

While attempting to leave the grocery without paying, he was apprehended.

Alvin Linus Chivondo is accused of stealing 5 kilograms of rice, 5 litres of cooking oil, 2 kilograms of sugar, and other commodities worth Ksh. 3,165.
