MKU graduate burns all his academic certificates after failing to secure employment

A Kenyan man has burnt all his academic certificates after failing to secure employment since graduation.

According to the video seen by Mkenya Leo, the unidentified man is captured burning a degree certificate bearing the name of Mt. Kenya University.

He claimed that the certificate was not as useful as he thought it would be and whenever he sees the certificates, it gives her trauma of not getting job.

This coincidentally comes a few days after an ICT graduate from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology committed suicide in Kapsongoro village in Chepsangor, Nandi County, over unemployment.

According to reports, Michael Kibet, is said to have taken his life at his brother’s compound in Lessos after searching for employment opportunities in vain.

Kibet, 26, graduated with a First Class honours degree in ICT and Telecommunication from the Juja-based institution in 2021 having also scored A plain from Meteitei Boys High School in Tinderet Nandi.

Area Chief David Rugut confirmed the incident, saying the deceased hanged himself outside his brother’s house out of frustration.

He said the family had lost not only a bright student but a dependable professional in the entire Chepsangor location.

“We are really saddened by the loss of Michael. He was a hardworking and disciplined boy in our location. He ended his life out of frustration according to his brother,” Rugut said.
