Little-known details of Health Cabinet nominee Susan Nakhumicha Wafula

Susan Nakhumicha Wafula was proposed by President Ruto to lead the Ministry of Health.

Ms. Wafula is an expert in supply chain management with more than 15 years of multicultural, international experience in operations and agile, intelligent supply chains in the healthcare sector.

She has experience working for a variety of healthcare organizations, including the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency, AAR Healthcare, Nairobi Women’s Hospital, and the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), one of the top colleges in the world for health sciences.

She will leave her position as the Head of Supply Chain at UCSF to join the Cabinet.

According to her Linkedin profile, Dr Wafula started her career at a diploma level

She did her diploma in Pharmacy at the Kenya Medical Training College.

She also did another diploma in Healthcare Management, Healthcare Management at the Kenya Institute of Management between 2005-2006 and scored a Distinction

She would then join JKUAT to take a bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Management. After her bachelor’s, she remained at the same university and took a Master of Science in Procurement and Logistics, Logistics, Materials, and Supply Chain Management
