Popular Zimbabwean socialite Angelica Sandie has finally returned to her country safely after being stranded in Kenya for days.
According to reports, Sandie went viral after she was conned by her online Kenyan lover she was visiting.
She arrived in Kenya on 13 June to visit the love of her life before things went south.
Sandie claimed that she did not know that her new lover was a drug dealer. The two were in a relationship for the last six months before she decided to visit him in Kenya.
She said the lover lied to her that he was from Kenya when in fact he was from Sierra Leone.
Angelica Sandie said on their way to Mombasa they were hijacked by three cars. The hijackers took everything they had including a suitcase full of cash which she estimated was US$250 000 or more.
Sandie was left with the clothes that she was wearing and luckily her passport was in the pocket of her jacket.
Her boyfriend was shot in the knees and thrown by the roadside.
Angelica Sandie was taken in by the Zimbabwean Embassy in Kenya. She made videos appealing for assistance from well-wishers to pay her plane fare back to Zimbabwe.
A number of Zimbabweans came through and bought her a ticket back to Zimbabwe.
In a video soon after arriving home, Angelica Sandie thanked everyone who contributed to her safe return. Sandie said:
“My Zimbabweans at last, I have arrived home. Thank you so much for your contributions guys. I have arrived home. Let me call my daughter, I’m sure she can’t wait to see mummy.”
