Kirinyaga Woman Rep Purity Wangui Ngirici, has come out to address her fall-out with Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Ngirici, who left DP Ruto’s hustler nation last December, said on Saturday that she had put a lot of money into the party before she was betrayed..
She revealed that she and her husband, Andrew Ngirici, sold a family home worth millions of dollars in order to publicize UDA in Kirinyaga County.
Ngirici, who was campaigning in Kiamanyeki, Mwea seat for her gubernatorial ambition, expressed apologies for the action.
She said: “I sacrificed a lot for the UDA party but I was later shortchanged. Mambo ya kuchagua chama tuwache, let us think about individuals who will represent our interests.”
Ngirici announced that she will run as an independent candidate for Kirinyaga’s top seat in the next August general election, where she will oppose incumbent Anne Waiguru and other contenders.
Waiguru is scheduled to run on a UDA ticket. Ngirici and Waiguru had previously clashed over the governor election in Kirinyaga.
Ngirici left the DP Ruto party after Governor Waiguru joined UDA, as Waiguru was viewed as the frontrunner for the party’s ticket in the next elections.
