Walighula! Four police officers arrested after man they robbed KSh 373K finds them at Kamukunji station

Four police officers have been arrested after being positively identified by a man they allegedly harassed and robbed.

William Tongoyo, a resident of Narok, was approached by uniformed police officers as he was strolling down Charles Rubia Road.

They walked a distance, accused him of loitering in the city, handcuffed him, and then began to search him.

In Tongoyo’s account, the officer discovered his KSh 373,000 payment for selling meat from 12 cows at Burma Market and then vanished.

“He was taken through a lane and at a certain point he was searched, and one of the officers stole from him a total of KSh 373,000/- which he had been paid as proceeds after selling meat of twelve cows at Burma market at Shauri Moyo,” read a police report.

He reported the incident to Kamukunji at the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), explaining that he would be able to identify every officer responsible.

All officers in custody were instructed to congregate at the intersection of River Road and Ronald Ngala Street for the identification procedure by the chief of the central sub-county police, the sub-county criminal investigation officer, and DCI Kamukunji.

As soon as he arrived, Tongoyo recognized the first officer, who then revealed all of his accomplices. All but one of them were disarmed and taken into custody.

“When the complainant was brought to see if he could identify any of the officers, he immediately identified one No. 253694 Pc Wycliff Onsare Singombe who was on lockup Kamukunji 16.

In turn, the said officer identified his colleagues 2) No. 225929 Cpl Caroline Chelagat 3) No. 104606 Pc (w) Prisca Kwamboka, and 4) No. 87000 Pc Raphael Ndugire Kinyanjui who by that time was said to have gone for lunch,” read the report.

Tongoyo positively identified him and was taken into custody when Kinyanjui came back.

All of them were searched, but no sizable sum of money was found.
