Vioja Mahakamani’s Lijodi Kokoto struggling with depression, faces eviction over KSh 100k rent arrears
Lawrence Gwako, who plays Lijodi Kokoto in Vioja Mahakamani, is concerned because he and his family are in danger of being evicted due to KSh 100,000 in back rent.
Kokoto, who has a work, has struggled to support his family and care for his son Wesley Obama, who has sickle cell anemia.
The family is attempting to fund KSh 625,000 for an Indian bone marrow transplant. It has been challenging for the unemployed Kokoto to cover other expenses like rent because of Wesley’s health, which also requires frequent hospital visits and medications.
The father of Wesley, 14, and Denzel, 9, lives in Nairobi’s Kariobangi South estate and makes a monthly payment of KSh 10,000.
“I haven’t paid anything from January,so I have been told to pay what I can manage or move out this week,” Kokoto told TUKO.co.ke in an interview.
“Iam almost falling into depression because of that,” he added.
In addition to paying the rent, Kokoto must get his kid spectacles because the symptoms of sickle cell anemia have also damaged his eyes, making it impossible for him to see clearly.

Not just Kokoto from Vioja Mahakani has been struggling; Gibson Gathu, who plays the Prosecutor in the regional sitcom, underwent kidney transplant surgery three months ago.
Gathu expresses his gratitude to everyone who helped him in any way.
The veteran actor had urged Kenyans in June 2022 for assistance in raising KSh 6 million so that he could receive a kidney transplant, and KSh 5.5 million in total was raised.
