Video viral: Uhuru Kenyatta dances to reggea song in Mombasa

Currently on his final developmental tour across the nation, outgoing president Uhuru Kenyatta seems to be having a blast.

President Kenyatta, outgoing Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, and Mombasa gubernatorial contender Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir can be seen dancing to the iconic reggae song One Love by Bob Marley in a video that has surfaced on social media.

The phrase “one love” is frequently used by Rastafarians, Jamaicans, and reggae singers as a symbol of inclusiveness and harmony. As the nation prepares for the General Elections on August 9, it appears that the President was attempting to convey that message.

Nassir is seen holding the microphone and singing along to the song in the 30-second video, which is being cheered on by President Kenyatta, Joho, and the audience.

“One love, one heart. Let’s get together and feel all right. Hear the children cryin’ (one love). Hear the children cryin’ (one heart). Sayin’ give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right. Sayin’ let’s get together and feel all right,” they sang.

The new Sh4.5 billion Makupa Bridge, the offshore Kipevu Oil Terminal, and the Liwatoni Fisheries Complex were among the infrastructure projects that President Kenyatta dedicated on August 3 and 4 during a day-long working visit of Mombasa County.

The dismantling of the Makupa Causeway, which allowed free passage of Indian Ocean waters across the new bridge and restored Mombasa City’s status as an actual island, was observed by President Kenyatta as part of the launch.

The first agri-hub in the nation and producer of vegetable oil and associated bio-products, Eni Kenya, was also visited by President Kenyatta earlier in the day for an inspection.

The Kwa Kathoka agri-hub in Makueni County began operations last month and has now hired up to 200 employees, largely young people from the area.
