Citizen TV’s Victoria Rubadiri was treated to a surprise birthday cake-cutting ceremony at the station’s headquarters.
In the video posted by the stations Swahili anchor Lulu Hassan, colleagues led by Rashid Abdalla sang birthday songs to her while Ayub Abdikadir presented the cake to her.
“The warmest wishes to a great member of our team. May your special day be full of happiness, fun and cheer!” Lulu wrote.
A visibly surprised Vicky, as she is commonly known, was lost for words thanking fellow journalists for the gesture.
“Thank you guys, thank you,” she remarked.
When asked to reveal her age, the celebrated news presenter declined the request stating that she was not going to give her age number.
Lulu Hassan, Rashid Abdalla, and Seth Olale among other Citizen TV employees surprised Rubadiri in the studio leaving her speechless.
Netizens too took to social media to wish Rubadiri well on her birthday.
Dr Fridah commented; “Blessed birthday Rubadiri. It was an honour being hosted and interviewed during your birthday. Such a humble lady. God bless,”
Another user by the name of Nailfaris stated, “You mean I share my birthday with Victoria,”
Rubadiri joined Royal Media Services RMS in May 2018 having served as an anchor at the Nation Media Group as a co-host with CNN’s Larry Madowo.”
She is also an award-winning Kenyan journalist known for her ability to connect with her audience through her compelling stories.
Rubadiri is the recipient of the 2020 BBC Komla Dumor Award. She currently co-anchors Sunday Live on Citizen TV with Jeff Koinange.
She also anchors the Citizen Weekend Prime time news bulletin on Saturday.
