Victor Wanyama, a midfielder for CF Montréal, has spoken up about how he ended up running around in his underwear after helping his team beat Charlotte FC 2-0 on the road.
After the game on Saturday, the 30-year-old was spotted on camera sprinting to the Bank of America Stadium locker room in only his black GPS sports jacket, underwear, and socks.
The video went viral fast, sparking a lot of discussion on social media. Following the release of the video, the former Harambee Stars captain had to create a follow-up video clarifying what had happened.
Former Tottenham Hotspur and Southamption midfielder Victor Wanyama stated that he was accosted by an elderly fan who had driven seven hours to witness Wanyama play.
“So I told the fan, why not? You know you have sacrificed a lot to drive seven hours to come and watch us play, then I decided to give him my shorts, so he was very happy, I just wanted to make his day and he was very happy and… yeah, nothing much,” stated Wanyama in part.

Wanyama made his MLS debut in 2020. He was a crucial player for the Canadian club in his first season, finishing first among his colleagues in tackles (57) and second in recoveries (235) during the regular season, while also scoring two goals.
Wanyama finished the 2021 season with the Voyageurs Cup after defeating Toronto FC 1-0 in the Canadian Championship final in November.
Montréal is on a nine-game unbeaten streak in all competitions and is playing some of its finest football in club history. The team is currently in first place in the Eastern Conference.
Montréal resumes its road trip against Nashville SC on Thursday, the second of five games on the road.
