UPDATE: EPRA Announces New Fuel Prices Adjustments
The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced an increase in fuel prices following its latest review on Tuesday, January 14. The adjustments affect Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene.
New Fuel Prices
The updated maximum retail prices per litre are:
- Super Petrol: Increased by Ksh0.29 to Ksh176.58
- Diesel: Increased by Ksh2.00 to Ksh167.06
- Kerosene: Increased by Ksh3.00 to Ksh151.39
These prices include the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT), as stipulated in the Finance Act 2025, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2024, and the inflation-adjusted excise duty rates per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2000.
Global Cost Trends
EPRA highlighted fluctuations in the landed costs of imported fuel between November and December 2024:
- Super Petrol: Decreased by 0.54%, from US$612.93 to US$611.69 per cubic metre.
- Diesel: Increased by 0.06%, from US$643.69 to US$654.10 per cubic metre.
- Kerosene: Dropped significantly by 12%, from US$660.30 to US$619.64 per cubic metre.
