Two people lost their lives on Monday evening after being struck by a vehicle in Decimo, Ruaka, Kiambaa constituency, Kiambu County.
According to police reports, the vehicle involved in the tragic incident was a new Toyota Land Cruiser SUV, which was later set ablaze by an angry mob in the aftermath of the accident.
Kiambaa Sub-county Police Commander Pius Mwanthi revealed that the victims, a man and a woman, were hit while attempting to cross the road. “They died on the spot,” Mwanthi said, adding that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
He also expressed concern over the increasing number of accidents in the area, saying, “There has been a rise in such accidents and it is worrying. We urge for caution from pedestrians and other road users.”

The victims’ bodies were taken to Kihara mortuary for post-mortem examinations, while the burned-out wreckage of the vehicle was towed to the Kiambaa police station for further inspection.
