A new study shows the amount of sex you should be having, according to your age. Researchers at the Kinsey Institute of Sex, Reproduction and Gender have identified the time in our lives when we get the most sex and why it’s most important for our health.
It turns out it’s the millennials, people who entered young adulthood around the year 2000, that have the most sex.
The study suggests that people between the age of 18 and 29 should be having sex 112 times a year, which works out as twice a week on average.
A different study found that students in Wilkes University in Pennsylvania who had sex twice a week had higher levels of antibodies compared to those who didn’t have as much sex.
Sex comes with a number of health benefits such as lowering blood pressure, easing stress and anxiety and helping to get to sleep.
When it comes to the next age bracket, 30 – 39, people should have sex 86 times per year, which works out at 1.6 times per week.
Whereas people aged between 40 and 49 should have sex around 69 times per year.
The slow down in bedroom activity in the older ages is likely to be because people have families or busier work schedules to those in the younger brackets.
