Popular content creator Robert Ndegwa Kamau, widely known as Thee Pluto, has shared the reasons behind his decision to move out of the lavish 7-bedroom mansion he was renting in Utawala.
During a candid Q&A session with his Instagram followers, Pluto opened up about the financial missteps he made in 2024 that led to his current situation.
Financial Missteps and Overcommitment
Pluto revealed that he took on multiple major projects simultaneously, which ultimately drained his finances.
One of these projects was renting the luxurious mansion, while the other involved constructing a multi-story rental building.
Despite warnings from friends, including fellow content creator @iam_marwa, Pluto admitted he ignored the advice and pursued both ventures at the same time.
“My brother @iam_marwa warned me, but I didn’t listen. I took on two major projects at once instead of focusing on one until completion—a mansion and a whole building with several floors. It drained me financially,” Pluto confessed.
Thee Pluto on Emotional and Financial Struggles
The father of two also disclosed that his financial challenges were compounded by emotional turmoil following a breakup with his girlfriend, Felicity Shiru.
“By October, I was broke, single, and lonely. I had to sacrifice a lot of things, trust me. The combination of being broke, single, and lonely is something you never want to experience. It hits you hard, but I’ve taken a few months to recollect myself. 2025 will be great,” he added.
The situation forced Pluto to downsize from the mansion he had worked hard to afford and move into a more manageable space. Reflecting on the experience, he shared valuable lessons he learned about budgeting, saving, and living within one’s means.
Pluto emphasized the importance of distinguishing between needs and wants, as well as the need for effective debt management to avoid financial turmoil. He also highlighted the significance of investing for the future and prioritizing financial literacy.
“Money is a tool to help achieve your goals, not a source of happiness in itself,” he noted.
