An 18-year-old girl, who allegedly strangled her newborn baby to death, has been arrested by the police.

Faith Jepkosgei said she killed her three weeks old son in her parent’s house in Singore Sub-location after her father scolded her.

According to the suspect, her father had been taunting her since she gave birth before marriage.

The child’s body, which was found lying in the sitting room, was moved to Kimbilo Funeral Home.

Man hangs himself

Elsewhere in Shieywe village Soy, Kakamega County, a man hang himself inside his girlfriend’s homestead on suspicion she had dumped him.

Soy assistant chief Cornelius Luseno Lusava said the deceased, Peter Katiba, had been in relationship with the girl and they had promised to marry each other.

However, the girl left home with her mother to attend a relative’s funeral in the neighboring Lugari Sub County without informing the man.

The move seemed to have angered Katiba who thought the girl had opted to marry another man before he hanged himself.
