Aldrine Kibet of St Anthony Boys Kitale was on Thursday named the August LG/ Sports Journalists Association of Kenya Personality of the Month award winner.
He becomes the second school student to be recognised by the scribes but the first to be awarded the Sports Personality of the Month award.
Former Kisumu Day High School student Ben Omala was the first student to be recognised by the LG/SJAK in 2020 when he was named KPL Footballer of the Month.
Kibet received a 55-inch TV courtesy of LG and a personalised plaque.
Kibet’s fete comes after he led his school to a record sixth Kenya Secondary School Sports Association national title in Kakamega last month.
He was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player after bagging 25 goals and 27 assists for his school during the entire campaign.
Kibet is already embarking on a journey to Spain, where he will join Nastic Soccer Academy (NSA) in Tarragona.
