Sonko Adopts Conjestina Achieng into His Family, Promises To Open Business For Her Once She Recovers

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has again come to the rescue of former Kenyan boxer Conjestina Achieng.

On Saturday, Sonko sent a car to pick the 43-year-old to Mombasa for prayers, a few days after his son appealed for help due to die financial needs the family facing.

Speaking at the Hospital where Conje is admitted, Sonko has promised to adopt Conjestina Achieng to his family until she gets well, where he will open gym business for her.

“Tumejaribu Kusaidia Conjestina for so many years, aki-recover akiwa Rehab, anasema anataka kurudi kuangalia familia nyumbani. Mtu akitaka kwenda kuona mamake, huwezi mkataza. Lakini akienda kule, anarudi nyuma tena. So hiyo challenge tumei-elewa kwa sasa. Conjestina ako na depression.”

“Nataka kulaumu serikali kwa kuachilia our heros and heroines. Hawa watu wameletea Kenya sifa. Conjestina aliletea hii nchi medali nyingi.. Serikali inafaa kuwa na fund yao kupitia Ministry of sports, iwe inawasaidia.”

“Hii si PR exercise. Nafanya Kazi ile mungu amenipatia,” Sonko stated.

“Tumekubaliana na familia. Roundi Hii wataniachia Conjestina..nimekaa na watu wengi orphans, ambao tunakaa pamoja kama watoto wangu, sasa mniwachie Conjestina kama wangu, akipona nitabaki naye. Kama ni kazi, niko na mikahawa kadhaa na gym – ataenda huko kutrain wanawake mambo ya boxing. So from here mambo ya kazi mtaniachia,” Sonko said.

The mother of one is currently being treated at a hospital in Mombasa before being taken for prayers.

According to Sonko, she demanded that she is taken to a hospital before to goes to attend his court case hearing.

“Huyu Conjestina ameleta ngori at lazima nimpeleke hosi ndioniende kortini,” Sonko said.

“Conje has been ill for a long time. When she talked with Mike Sonko, she agreed to be taken to the hospital. The family is grateful for Mike Sonko’s support. He has promised to support her until Conje is fully recovered,” Conje’s son Charltone Ochieng thanked Sonko.

“We thanked Sonko for his continued support. We had given up our sister but he has come through. Our mother is grateful,” Conje’s young sister Everlyn Adala stated.

Adding: “Once she gets well, we request that she is not taken back to Nyanza. Anytime, she comes home – she get mentally ill again.”
