Sitarudia! Nonini apologizes to Kenyans for supporting Ruto’s government

Genge music pioneer Herbert Nakitare popularly known as Nonini has apologized for what he says is his support for the Kenya Kwanza government.

In a statement Monday evening on social media platform X, Nonini said his resolve emanates from the direction the country is going, which he disapproves of.

“Looking back at how our country is going a year down the line with this government. I want to share my apology loudly to Kenyans for supporting this government and some leaders you know I did,” he said.

The Kenya Kwanza government has come under heavy criticism with the most recent Infotrak survey saying that 53 per cent of Kenyans believe the country is headed in the wrong direction as President William Ruto’s regime marked a year in office.

Some of the reasons given by those who believe the country is off the track are the high cost of living and unemployment.

The high cost of living was among the reasons cited by the opposition in their anti-government demonstrations early this year.

Eighty-nine per cent of the respondents cited the high cost of living as saying Kenya is headed in the wrong direction.

Unemployment was cited as the second reason.

Interestingly, the same poll gave Ruto a thumbs up on his performance as the country’s chief executive officer, with those polled giving him 55 per cent.
