Eli Omundu Khumundu, a former employee of the comedian Jalang’o, has pleaded with him to rehire him.
In an interview, Eli Omundu begged his old boss to hire him back, saying he was suffering without his gardening work and that he was ready to.
He revealed that he had cast his ballot for Jalas, and that the politician’s wife had even paid for his flight to Nairobi.
“Nilimpigia simu nikamwambia boss wangu ndio nimefika mjini nkapiga kura lakini huku nairobi sina mahali pa kukaa ama kulala akaniambia niongee na first lady wake na mama hakua na shida (I had called him when I came to vote for him, but I did not have fare to go back home and when I called him his wife sent me fare to go back home since I did not have anywhere to sleep in Nairobi)”
The former gardener observed that his boss held influence and could assign him to any location in Lang’ata.
He admitted his error, but he had made amends to his supervisor and was now looking for employment.
“Tuko sawa na boss kama tungekua pabaya hangenitumia fare. Huku Bungoma njaa ni mingi watoto yani shule hawajaenda yaani ni mateso bila chuki lakini naomba hii kilio ifikie boss wangu ukweli watu wanakoseanga lakini kukosa si kosa kurudia kosa ni kosa (Me and Jalang’o are fine if we were not okay he would not have sent me fare. Where I am right now there’s alot of hunger my kids are suffering they have not yet gone to school and making a mistake was not a mistake but repeating it was.”
Theft
In an interview with Eve Mungai, the celebrated media personality revealed the money the two staffers made away with was not for his campaigns as many people assumed but for a project he was working on with a friend.
The former radio presenter narrated how he least suspected the duo as he they had no reason to do so since he treated them like family.
“It can never occur to me that the Eli and Litiema could do this because they are people I have never even taken as workers in my home, these are people I have always treated as family,” he painfully narrated.
Jalang’o said he first asked his wife if he had taken any money from his car as he did not think of Eli and Litiema having taken the cash since they were used to seeing the cash in the cars they washed in the compound.
“When I went to the car I realized the money was not there I asked my wife if she had taken any money from the car because at this time I am not thinking that Eli and Litiema would take the money because they are used to seeing such money in the car and they have never taken it,” Jalang’o said.
He said he suddenly realized the duo was not in the compound and had their phones off something which prompted him to rush and make a report to the police who were immediately dispatched but the duo had fled with their families.
