Restoration International Churches (RIC) in Syokimau is still hurting from the loss of many pieces of praise and worship equipment.
After hearing about his financial difficulties, church Pastor Bishop Isindu mobilized numerous members to offer him assistance in getting back on his feet.
He received a bed, mattress, and other household equipment, as well as a monthly income of KSh 10,000 from God’s house for his maintenance.
It was a move that would come back to haunt the church far too late, when it became clear that the guy who led Sunday’s worship session had been plotting to steal.
On Thursday, June 8, Ngaira returned to the church store, took the keys, and walked away with a Yamaha PSR670 keyboard, a mixer, and many microphones.
After stealing the equipment, Ngaira began approaching church members for money in order to release it.
He stated in a lengthy statement posted to the church WhatsApp group that he regretted his acts but that life had pushed him over the edge.
In a long message sent to the church WhatsApp group, he admitted that he regretted his actions but life had pushed him to the edge.
“Nilichukuwa keyboard na mixer na microphones, intention yangu haikuwa niuze but nilikuwa nataka tu pesa kidogo yenye itanisaidia pahali alafu nizirudishe,” read part of his message.
He, however, started playing hide and seek when the church tried to reach out and collect the missing items.
