On Sunday, 29 passengers were left stranded in the middle of the road when the bus’s driver and conductor abandoned the vehicle and vanished into the night.
The bus was supposed to be traveling from Busia to Nairobi, but at around 2 a.m. on the Kisumu-Kericho road, the driver pulled over and fled, followed by the conductor.
Belgut Sub-county Police Commander Charles Kibati confirmed the incident, adding that the matter was reported at Ainamoi Police Station at 7am by one of the passengers.
The 29 passengers gave their statements at Sosiot Police Station and had to find another means to continue their journey to Nairobi.
Kabati told NTV that the vehicle in question, a Scania bus, was towed to the same police station pending investigations.
