Sakaja and Igathe excites Kenyans after meeting to have lunch together
Following the release of photos showing them drinking a cup of coffee, Nairobi’s elective governor Johnson Sakaja and previous deputy governor Polycarp Igathe have sparked excitement among the city’s residents.
Former senator Sakaja had made a suggestion that he would ask Igathe over for coffee after the 2022 General Elections were over.
“Wonderful conversation and laughs with my brother Polycarp Igathe this afternoon. Amesema ni #Naitunavyoitaka #SiasaSafi,” Sakaja tweeted.

After receiving 699,392 votes, Sakaja, who was running on the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), won the governor’s contest. Igathe, on the other hand, received 573,518 votes while running on a Jubilee Party ticket.
The two met for lunch the day after Sakaja and his deputy governor, Njoroge Muchiri, had a meeting with Kenya Kwanza-affiliated members of the Nairobi County Assembly.
“DG and I held our inaugural Nairobi caucus meeting with Kenya Kwanza MCAs. We commit to deliver to you a city of order and dignity; hope and opportunity for all. We shall deliver on all the promises we made to you,” revealed Sakaja.
Sakaja thanked his forebears and said he was going to learn from them because he recognized the difficulties they had to confront.
The candidate for governor again pledged to return to the county government the duties that had been given to the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS).
