COTU secretary general Francis Atwoli has claimed that Deputy President William Ruto will only be the president of Kenya if stops calling him ‘Mzee wa manyororo’.
Appearing for an interview with NTV, Atwoli stated that Martha Karua might be the president before Ruto, if he was not careful.
“Ruto will become the president if he stops calling me “Mzee wa manyororo. If he is not careful, Raila will hand over this government to Martha Karua. The first woman to be Kenya’s president will be Martha Karua,” Atwoli said.

Atwoli who has been Ruto’s greatest critic, has several mentioned that the DP can never be president.
In 2019, he told the media that DP Ruto would not be on the ballot in this years General election 2022.
Following this, Ruto has always come out to attack him, calling him names. While addressing Kenyans in diaspora, Ruto referred to him as a ‘foolish’ man.
He said it was stupid for Atwoli, who is the Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General, to oppose the regularisation of NHIF reforms.
But in a rejoinder, Atwoli alleges the DP was angry because he allegedly tried to stop him from laying his hands on funds meant for the National Social Security Fund (NSSF).
“He calls me names when he is in London, telling the whole world that Atwoli is the most stupid person…It is better to be stupid that to be a thief,” Atwoli said.
Further, Atwoli called out the DP for disrespect saying he was like a father to him.
“I have said this before, Deputy President William Ruto will never be elected as Kenya’s president,” he added.
