“Ruto should forgive those who insulted him, but not Atwoli” – Wajackoyah says

Former presidential candidate and Roots Party leader Prof. Geoge Wajackoyah has urged the president-elect William Ruto to forgive those who insulted and humiliated him, but should not spare Francis Atwoli.

“Ruto should forgive those who insulted him, but there are some like Atwoli he should go after,” Wajackoyah said.

The COTU boss has been a harsh critic against Ruto and in many cases claimed he would never be the president of Kenya.

In one incident, Atwoli insulted Ruto in front of President Uhuru Kenyatta in February during the Universal Health Coverage programme at Port Reitz Sub County Hospital in Mombasa.

Speaking during the event, the vocal unionist said William Ruto would not succeed the outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta.

While exuding confidence that ODM leader Raila Odinga will win the presidential contest, the firebrand unionist said Ruto will never be president until he serves in the opposition calling on close friends of the deputy president to cut down trees in Sugoi so that he does not commit suicide when he loses the presidential race.

“Those who are close to William Ruto should cut down all the trees in Sugoi or else he will hang himself when the results are announced in August,” said Atwoli leaving President Uhuru Kenyatta in stitches.

Change of heart

Atwoli has admitted that President-elect Dr William Ruto played his cards well in the concluded General Election.

Mr Atwoli said unlike the Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya Coalition camp that went to bed thinking that they had already won the presidential seat, Dr Ruto played smart.

“We went to sleep knowing that we had won, only to realise that we were doing politics without any skills… William Ruto was politically smart and he outsmarted us,” Mr Atwoli said.
