According to President Uhuru Kenyatta, residents of the Mt. Kenya region were tricked into turning against him.
Uhuru expressed sympathy for citizens of the broader Central Kenya region who, he claimed, were easily convinced by a group of political figures to turn against him. He did not name any specific individuals.
“My people in Mt Kenya were duped to believe that my plan to bring the one man one shilling rule was about me. They were told to hate me but now I will be hanging out with my grand kids while the problem remains unresolved,” Uhuru said.
He stated that he might not be able to assist them because of their “foolishness.”
In an interview with Kikuyu media outlets on Saturday night, Uhuru made a statement.
He claimed that throughout his tenure as president, he never put his own interests ahead of those of the nation.
William Ruto, the vice president, appears to have a resounding majority of support in Mount Kenya.
After Tuesday’s elections, Uhuru will retire, therefore the only way the Mt. Kenya region will be in a position of influence is if the Azimio team, whose vice presidential candidate is from the area, wins.
This helps to explain why the front-runners for the presidency chose running mates from the area in an effort to win over the region’s supporters.
