Police have initiated a manhunt in Matungulu, Machakos County, for a bunch of thieves who stormed a gas station and terrorized the employees there.
In order to steal money, the thieves went to the Matungulu Delta gas station while wearing police clothes.
First, they captured the on-duty guard and attendants and imprisoned them in the building’s restrooms.
Their next trip was the office, which they searched through in the hopes of finding some money, but none was nearby.
They started trying to smash down the door to the neighboring room after knowing that the safe was there, but their efforts ultimately failed.
They would then engage the attendants, robbing them of their belongings, and seize the KSh 5,000 they were holding at the time.
The thugs took the attendants’ phones as well, but they later left them on the desk in the office.
“They tied our hands from behind and started robbing us. They took all the money we had and our phones which they left on the table before leaving,” one of the attendants recounted.
Investigations into the incident that happened on the dawn of Saturday, April 22, are ongoing.
For a while, petrol stations have been recipients of thuggery acts perpetrated by not only robbers but also motorists who speed off without settling the fuel bills.
