Rashid Abdalla, a Citizen TV news presenter, was struck speechless on Sunday, April 17, when his three children surprised him on broadcast.
When the three children appeared on TV performing a birthday song to their father, the anchor was near the end of the bulletin.
Hassan Mugambi, another Citizen TV presenter, escorted the trio and delivered the cake to the journalist.
Abdalla, who had been straining to finish the act, was taken aback by the turn of events and was left with his head in his hands. He appeared to be at a loss for words.
“Happy birthday. I have never visited this place,” remarked one of the daughters.
Abdalla and his wife Lulu Hassan, who co-host the weekend Swahili bulletin, are noted for their passionate gestures toward one another on significant occasions, such as birthdays in the past.
Following her husband surprised her on her birthday after the 7 p.m. news bulletin on April 24, 2021, Lulu Hassan was moved to tears.
Rashid set the tone as they were winding up the event, lavishing praise on his wife while she battled to keep a straight face.
A melodious birthday melody playing in the background heightened the atmosphere in the studio, making Rashid sound like a poet speaking over an instrumental.
Rashid and Lulu were born exactly seven days apart, on April 17 for Rashid and April 17 for Lulu.
The two anchors have been married since 2013 and have three gorgeous children. They started co-hosting prime-time news in 2018.
