Raila Odinga, the Azimio presidential contender, has slammed Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa, detailing how he raised her.
Raila was reacting to Kilifi governor Amason Kingi’s decision to abandon the Azimio alliance and join Jumwa to back Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential campaign.
Raila said he took up Jumwa and elevated her to where she is in politics when speaking to Kilifi citizens on Thursday, May 12.
“Yule Mama, mnajua vile mimi nlimchukua nikambeba mpaka nikamuweka pale aliko sasa. Alikuwa mchafu chafu nikamsafisha mpaka akawa pale (You know how I picked up Jumwa and placed her where she is now. She was ‘nothing’ and I reformed her to be who she is now),” said Raila.
Raila castigated Jumwa for boasting about her beauty yet he is the one who made her clean.
“Sasa amaeanza kuongea, kila mara anaonyesha watu kiuno, ati sasa anaringa ati ako na kiuno safi sana, kiuno hio mimi sijagusa, kiuno hio mimi sina haja nayo (She talks much, boasting around in high waist. I am not interested with her waist),” he added.
Earlier, the ODM leader slammed Kingi after he decamped Azimio One Kenya Alliance for Kenya Kwanza.
Speaking to Gongoni residents in Kilifi on Wednesday, May 11, Raila stated categorically how he elevated the governor and shaped his political career.
He said he introduced him (Kingi) to politics in 2008 when he was still young, giving him an MP seat.
“Today I am back here in Gongoni with a very heavy heart. In 2008, I brought to you a young man who had just completed school and supported him and you people elected him an MP and late a governor,” he said.
Raila reminded residents of Kingi’s betrayal, urging them to remain loyal for the race to state house will be just in a few months.
Kingi made the move after Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader Alfred Mutua joined Kenya Kwanza.
Mutua has since revealed that he is satisfied with the deal he made with Ruto and other Kenya Kwanza principals.
