Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga has refuted claims that he is part of UhuRuto’s Jubilee government.
Speaking during a media conference on Tuesday in Karen, Raila revealed that he was not benefiting from any government service including allowances, adding that his was only advising President Kenyatta.
He explained:
“Kenyans are not stupid. Kenyans know I am not in government. I don’t earn a salary, I don’t live in a government house. I dont get any allowance from the government. But I advise. But the advice is just advice; it can be implemented or not.”
The former prime minister used the opportunity to attack his main opponent Deputy President William Ruto, who he said has been benefiting greatly from Jubilee but still attacking the hand feeding him.
“It is unfair to do a blanket condemnation. Someone who is earning a salary has more than 250 security officers from the government and is using government vehicles for the campaign is coming out to say ask Kitendawili who is in government. He claims he was ejected from the government. Lakini kama ulitolewa, basi jiuzulu,” he said.
Adding:
“You cannot choose which part of government you will claim credit for and which you will disown.”
