President William Ruto discarded certain symbols of power on Friday, including removing the presidential standard while filing tax returns.
The presidential standard, often known as the presidential flag, is a flag that is used as a symbol of the head of state in various countries.
The President also removed the normal National flag from his official presidential limousine or the car in which he is driven.
Both the front and back Coat of Arms that substitute conventional number plates on his car were gone.
The Head of State was driven to the highly-guarded Times Towers at 8:15 am in a Toyota Lexus LX-570 with private number plates – KDH 969S.
Ruto’s presidential standard has a wheelbarrow sign which is his United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party’s symbol.
The shield has the Kenyan flag colours and the two spears are green and black in colour.
It is usually hoisted alongside the national flag in all the cars carrying him and must also go up showing his presence wherever he is attending an event.
Ruto was filing his tax returns at the Kenya Revenue Authority as required by the tax laws.
The President was received by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and KRA chairman Anthony Mwaura.
The KRA personnel who was serving Ruto said the president has complied with the tax regulations.
The President became the first high-profile national leader to openly file his tax obligations in what was seen as a move to lead by example.
