President William Ruto selected former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa as chairperson of the Kenya Water Towers Agency Board on Friday, May 19.
The statement was made in a Gazette Notice that was published on May 19th.
Echesa was appointed to the board for a three-year term.
“I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Rashid Echesa to be the Chairperson of the Kenya Water Towers Agency Board, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 19th May 2023,” read the notice in part.
As a result, Ruto cancelled the appointment of former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s appointee Robert Kariuki to the board in 2022.
In the 2022 General Election, Echesa was a major member of Ruto’s campaign staff.
In Western Kenya, the previous CS was a member of the Kenya Kwanza campaign team.
