Police in Kisumu are looking into a Monday night incident in which a police officer fired tear gas canisters at various locations in the Lakeside city.
A police report states that the crime was reported on Monday about 3 am.
He believed his fiancée had booked the hotel where the first incident took place with another man.
After a quarrel with the watchman who denied him access to the hotel, it was reported that the said officer lobbed a teargas canister.
The police said the man later left the hotel on a motorcycle after his attempts to access it were futile.
“The officer later went to a club along the Kisumua–Nairobi highway in Nyamasaria where he also lobbed teargas canisters at the revellers,” police said on Tuesday.
The mob around the area attacked and managed to arrest the man who was identified as a police officer.
He sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment.
