Three of the four suspects who were reportedly seen at World Marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum’s home four days prior to his accident have been taken into custody by the police and are being questioned.
The trio, whose identities are still a mystery, were initially held at the Kaptagat Police Station in Elgeyo Marakwet County until Wednesday morning, when they were moved to Iten to undergo additional interrogation.
Kiptum’s father Samson Cheruiyot raised the alarm hours after his tragic death in a horrific road accident along Eldoret Ravine road on Sunday night. Detectives in Elgeyo Marakwet County, where the fallen hero hailed from, are questioning the three to determine the nature of their visit.
Earlier, Nation.Africa learnt that the four were summoned for questioning by the Elgeyo Marakwet County Criminal Investigations Officer.
Mr Kiptum’s father had spoken about four strangers who visited the athlete’s home in Chepsamo village, Kaptarakwa ward, Keiyo South Constituency, Elgeyo Marakwet County four days before his tragic death and demanded that they be investigated as they did not introduce themselves well.
Mr Cheruiyot positively identified the three at Kaptagat Police Station and the vehicle they were using was detained at Kaptagat Police Station in Keiyo South.
