The Kenya Kwanza team practiced for the deputy presidential debate that took place in July, according to President William Ruto’s digital strategist Dennis Itumbi.
Itumbi said in images he posted on Twitter that the team set aside time to prepare for the debate in between campaigns.
“In between the Campaigns, we practiced for the debates. Nothing was taken for granted,” he said.
In the pictures, DP Rigathi Gachagua can be seen standing in the middle of the stage and posing as though a panel of people is asking him questions.
A woman who Itumbi claimed played the part of Martha Karua and had no other purpose than to irritate Gachagua is standing on his left side.
He explained that this was done to make the session more useful.
“She did her assignment well… she even went barefoot – literally.”
The deputy presidential debate was held Tuesday, July 19 at the Catholic University for East Africa in Karen, Nairobi.
It was a two tier debate based on the popularity of the presidential candidates.
The first tier debate featured running mates whose team’s popularity ratings based on three recent opinion polls stood below 5 per cent.
Gachagua faced off with Azimio running mate Martha Karua.
