Several people have perished after a trailer rammed into matatus, boda boda riders, pedestrians and hawkers at Londiani Junction.
According to reports, the trailer which was travelling to Kericho is claimed to have lost control causing the accident.
Kericho governor Eric Mutai confirmed the incident, sending his condolences to families of those who lost their loved ones.
“My heart is crushed. It is a dark moment for the people of Kericho. My heart goes out to the families who have just lost their loved ones in a worst Road Carnage at Londiani Junction,” he wrote.
He stated that his administration had dispatched ambulances to the awful scene, and that medical facilities and personnel were on readiness to accept casualties.
Mutai prayed for strength for the people of Kericho and the bereaved families during this terrible period.
“We have mobilised our Ambulances and get all our health facilities on standby. May God give us grace and strenght on this difficult time,” he added.
