As the August 9 General Election approaches, the Nation Media Group (NMG) has unveiled a program to challenge Citizen TV’s News Gang.
Every Thursday at 9 p.m., News Gang, hosted by renowned anchor Yvonne Okwara, examines politics and national issues.
NMG’s NTV, which is centered on podcasts, has taken a similar strategy.
Editors Roselyne Obala, Oliver Mathenge, and Guchu Ndung’u will be part of a three-person panel discussing the current state of affairs.
The trio discussed Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s return to the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition party in a podcast released on Friday, June 3.
Raila Odinga, the coalition’s presidential candidate, offered Kalonzo the office of Chief Minister, which he accepted.
The debate also included the debate over the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission’s (IEBC) voter registration.
Over 1 million voters in Deputy President William Ruto’s constituency were allegedly removed from the voting rolls. Ruto’s claims have received no response from the IEBC or Raila.
President Uhuru Kenyatta’s final Madaraka Day address was also discussed by Obala, Mathenge, and Ndung’u.
On April 13, NTV launched a show called Party Primaries Fever to analyze the party nominations at the time.
Joe Ageyo, the former Citizen TV Editorial Director and former News Gang panelist, hosted the show as NTV’s new Editorial Director – Broadcasting.
The panel included Assignment Editor Ben Kitili, Political Editor Roselyn Obala, and Podcast Editor James Smart.
