As rally fans continue to go to Naivasha town to watch the ongoing World Safari Rally championships, there is a severe condom scarcity there.
The celebration began on Thursday and is expected to end on June 26 on Sunday. Tourists frequently travel to Naivasha, also known as Vasha to those who enjoy having fun.
However, the town has seen an increase in tourists as a result of the WRC, including sex workers, which has resulted in a condom scarcity.
The free condoms provided by the Kenyan government, according to Stanley Ngara, often known as the “King of Condom,” have ran out.
“We have managed to buy and distribute to our lovely Kenyans. The demand is very high as we are talking. The sex workers are busy,” Stanley said.
The King of Condom spends his days promoting condom distribution and safe sex education. His focus is spreading knowledge about topics including sexual reproductive health and rights, such as HIV and AIDS.
The sheaths are freely given out by Stanley to a variety of groups, including young people, sex workers, boda boda riders, college students, market vendors, and even drug addicts.
Since the start of the Safari Rally event on Thursday, he claims to have been quite busy.
“Most of the businesses are now working 24 hours. I have spoken to a hotel businessman and he says his sales for condoms are very high,” Stanley said.
“As per yesterday night (Thursday) we did a spot check and there was no sex worker on the streets and they are so many that means a lot of activities are happening here in Naivasha,” Stanley revealed to the Star.
