Police have arrested a woman and her friend in connection with the shocking death of a four-year-old boy, whose body was abandoned at Mama Lucy Hospital Mortuary on December 9, 2024.
The suspect, identified as Melvin Owuor, is accused of fatally assaulting her son after he allegedly soiled himself while relieving himself.
According to investigators, Owuor and her friend took the child’s lifeless body to the mortuary, but instead of following police procedures as instructed by morgue officials, the two switched off their phones and vanished.
Their sudden disappearance raised suspicions, prompting the mortuary staff to report the incident at Mowlem Police Station.
Detectives from Dandora Police Station, working alongside CRIB officers from Nairobi Area, launched investigations that uncovered disturbing details about the child’s final moments.
Initially, the mother claimed the boy had died in his sleep, but further investigations revealed that he had succumbed to injuries inflicted by his own mother.
“Whereas the suspect initially claimed that the child died while asleep, it was found that the minor had succumbed to injuries inflicted by his mother after an alleged incident, where the boy had reportedly soiled himself while answering the call of nature,” the police statement read.
Further questioning confirmed that Owuor was indeed the biological mother of the deceased child, adding another tragic layer to the case.
“Upon deeper interrogation, it was uncovered that Melvin Owuor is the biological mother of the deceased child; a revelation that has added an even darker layer to the already heartbreaking case of the boy’s untimely death,” authorities stated.
The suspect remains in police custody, assisting detectives as they continue to piece together the full story behind the child’s tragic death.
The pursuit of justice remains a top priority, with law enforcement officials vowing to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
“The pursuit of justice continues as we work tirelessly to understand the truth and hold those responsible accountable for their actions,” the statement concluded.
