KCSE results are out, and we have been seeing people taking to their social media accounts to celebrate their children who performed well.
We have also seen the mainstream media being interested in candidates who excelled (C+ and above) to publish their stories.
The question which many people have been wondering is what about the candidates who scored C and below? Is there anyone proud of them?
For one teenage musician, her low grade does not mean the end of her life, and she is still determined to pursue her life goals.
Praise Makena was under pressure with her fans demanding to know how she performed like it is the norm with other young artists.
School-going artists are always pressured to perform well lest they are subjected to absolute ridicule. A good example of an artist who underwent public ridicule is Willy Paul scored a D.
However, Praise shocked many when she revealed that she had scored a C-, and she was proud of it.
She claimed she was contented with the grade God had given her, and she had no hard feelings as people would expect.
She said, “I know u r all curious to know what I got and I can’t hide my grades because I’m proud of what God decided to give me. I got a C minus and I’m very happy.”
She assured her fans that she would still pursue her passion for music despite her low grade.
“I’m still going to pursue what I love and that is music,” she stated.
She went on to thank God for his faithfulness in his life and claimed that she would forever serve Him.
Praise’s reaction to her performance differs from how students with low grades feel.
We have witnessed many of them committing suicide or giving up their lives, especially when their parents scold them for performing poorly.
That’s why Praise’s attitude elated many netizens, most of whom congratulated her for maintaining positivity.
One Mercy Gakuna told her, “Congratulations, that grade should not limit you from achieving your dreams.”
Another Martin Kobia, who is a teacher, said, “Congrats and I’m so happy that you are proud of your work. I’m a teacher, and my clarion call to all students is that they need to do their best and be happy about it.”
We, the Mkenya Leo, congratulate Praise for her grade and wish her all the best. We also urge candidates who performed poorly to embrace Praise’s attitude and pursue their dreams without feeling like they are failures.
