Moi University VC Unveils Vision for 2025, Vows To Make it Best University internationally
The Vice-Chancellor of Moi University, Prof. Isaac Sanga Kosgey, has outlined the institution’s strategic focus for 2025 in his New Year message.
In the detailed address, Prof. Kosgey emphasized the university’s commitment to rebuilding its reputation and positioning itself as a leading institution both nationally and internationally.
“Our focus for this year is to rebuild our university and steer it towards becoming the best university nationally and internationally,” he stated.
He highlighted key areas of focus, including internationalization and accreditation, where the university plans to expand global partnerships and secure international accreditation for its programs.
“Our goal is to reposition Moi University as a key player in our niche areas as provided by our academic disciplines,” Prof. Kosgey explained.
A major priority for 2025, according to the Vice-Chancellor, is strengthening the Moi University brand to ensure it stands out for excellence. He described this as an urgent task, emphasizing the need to attract more students and enhance the university’s contributions to research and societal development.
“Our aim is to increase student enrollment and significantly enhance our research and innovation output to contribute to knowledge and society’s development,” he noted.
Prof. Kosgey also stressed the importance of resource efficiency and mobilization, saying, “We will focus on resource mobilization and the optimal use of available resources to avoid wastage in university operations.”
He added that the institution would prioritize the completion of infrastructural projects, including the Amphitheater, the School of Science Complex, and other critical facilities aimed at improving teaching and training.
The welfare of staff and students was another key area of focus. Prof. Kosgey assured the university community that their well-being remains a top priority, with plans to improve the work environment and strengthen support systems.
“We are committed to improving the work environment and investing in capacity building for our staff,” he stated. He further announced the implementation of programs to enhance extracurricular activities and revamp sports facilities for students.
“Our goal is to gather feedback on student matters and work towards enhancing extracurricular activities,” he added.
The Vice-Chancellor also underscored the importance of alumni engagement, revealing plans to foster closer ties with graduates.
“This year, we are committed to creating more opportunities for engagement, collaboration, and support,” he said.
These initiatives include mentorship programs, career development activities, and avenues for giving back to the university.
Prof. Kosgey highlighted the role of the Endowment Fund, launched in 2024, as a key pillar of the university’s financial sustainability.
“The Endowment Fund will provide critical support for scholarships, research, infrastructure, and academic excellence,” he explained, adding that this initiative would ensure the university community thrives in an ever-evolving world.
In his closing remarks, the Vice-Chancellor expressed optimism for the year ahead and urged the university community to rally together to achieve the outlined goals.
“I wish you all a fruitful, positive, and successful year ahead as we work together to achieve these goals and take Moi University to greater heights,” he concluded.
