Many Kenyans were taken aback when a pair of twins received the identical mark in all five courses they took during the recently announced 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) tests.
Bett Lindsey Kiprotich and her fraternal twin Bett Lee Kiprotich both received “A”s in Mathematics, English, Kiswahili, Science, Social Studies & Religious Studies, and Science.
Even more intriguing is the fact that, despite scoring differently in separate topics, they both received a total score of 414.
Bett Lee received 414 points in English 89-A, Kiswahili 85-A, Mathematics 85-A, Science 75-A, and Social Studies and Religious Studies 80-A, for a total of 414 points.
Bett Lindsey received 414 points for 86-A English, 82-A Kiswahili, 85-A Mathematics, 76-A Science, 85-A Social Studies, and 85-A Religious Studies.
Despite being in the same class, the two were candidates at Nairobi’s Mountain View School and had never tied in terms of performance.
While in an interview Lindsey said: “I used to be on top of him in class…When these results came, I was actually in shock, we have never even tied in class but I am happy by the results.”
Adding:
“Sometimes, he would get 380 and I would get a 410, first time it is happening…We would only tie in Math where we would both get 100 or 95%.”
Charles Kipkirui Bett, their father, who was taken aback by the results, is thrilled by his children’s achievement.
Lindsey is aiming to get into The Kenya High School, while her brother, who is through initiation in Kericho, is wanting to get into Mang’u High School.
Another set of twins in 2021 received the same grade in seven of the eight KCSE subjects they were tested on.
In Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, and Business Studies, Ron George and Isaac Ray both received a “A.”
Furthermore, their overall scores differed by one mark, 83 and 84, due to Ron’s “A” in English and Ray’s “A-.”
