Barkat Ali Manji is the first mobile barber in the country. After Covid-19 happened that he decided to convert his van into a mobile barbershop.
He became an online sensation following this unique technique he uses to reach out to his clients at their homes whenever they require his services.
In a day, he attends to around 10 clients who live in Nairobi and its environs. For a haircut, he charges Ksh3,000 to 3500 per session.
Among the clients, he shaves is Otile Brown and former Kiambu governor William Kabogo, Nick Mutuma among others.

Speaking about his work he said:
”I have clients who have booked me for a specific day and a specific time the whole year.
It’s not been easy as sometimes I get very little sleep. But It’s also a new market as most people do not find barbers as early as 5:00 am.
I have also shaved some of Kenya’s millionaires. Even during this Covid-19, I would shave some clients up to 1:00 am but luckily they gave me an escort back home.
I want to have a few cars in the country.”
