Mary Lincoln, a famous Kikuyu gospel singer, struggled to accept her firstborn when she was born with a physical disability because she had no idea that it might happen.
The gospel music glam girl is married to famed radio host Njogu wa Njoroge, and the two of them share custody of their offspring from prior relationships.
“God allows some situations to happen,” she said on the Reke Ciume Na Ene YouTube Channel.
“I used to cry a lot seeing what my child was going through. I could even travel to far-off towns such as Mombasa, come back, and find her in the same position which was not easy to accept. Later in life God came through for us and I accepted that my child is disabled,” added Lincoln.
Later on, God blessed the singer with another child and she never thought that God would let her another child become sick.
“One day I was at my salon braiding a customer who was also as a doctor and my house manager called me saying my child, who was only three months old, had a bump on the head.
” I asked her are you sure you have not done anything to her she said in infact she’s not even crying. My client who was listening in said we should take the child to the hospital
Lincoln and her friend took a taxi and upon reaching the hospital the child was taken very fast to the ward and doctors started checking her.
“I overheard the doctors saying she was suffering from meningitis. I was so shocked until I fainted knowing that my child has a few hours to live,” said Lincoln.
The mother of three said that she had previously met a man when going home from work and he asked about her three girls.
“The gentleman later spoke to me that something will happen in my life but I will overcome; all I need to do is pray about it and all will be well. I really wondered what was happening so going back to the hospital I remembered those words of that gentleman,” said Lincoln.
“I continued praying but looking around the ward kids were really dying every single day I was in so much fear that my child would die. I remember in that ward a lady gave me her child I carry not knowing that the baby is already dead. It was a sad scene to watch,” she recounted.
The gospel star stayed in the hospital for three months until her child got better.
“I was even surprised the same mysterious gentleman came to see me in the hospital, prayed with me and said that my child will not die but she will live. As we are now my child is all grown up and doing so well,” she said.
Mary Lincon has also overcome spiritual battles in her life and she says she sometimes sees visions especially when she’s going to sleep at night.
There were times when she wished for death because it was torture for her not to be able to have a peaceful life, it came to a point she could sit down the whole night without sleeping.
As far as life is concerned, Mary said that sometimes people who are close to you might be the ones after your downfall and people should ask God for a spirit of discernment.
She maintains that people should not see everything that goes wrong as normal; they should always ask for help as she did to the man of God who helped her through the journey of healing and overcoming what she was going through. She is now okay.
