Part Time Jobs In Kenya
Are you always complaining about how you have no money because you don’t have a job? What then are you doing to try and better your situation? This is where part time jobs in Kenya come in.
The current job market is not favorable and more and more people are losing their jobs. As such one needs to come up with alternative ways to make money as they continue to look for permanent employment.
Therefore, before you complain about how you are broke and cannot sustain your life because you don’t have a job or your salary is not enough, it is important to consider taking up a part time job.
This is also a good way for you to network and meet people who might be able to help you with your career.
Here are a few examples of part time jobs in Kenya
1. Online Writer/Blogger
Do you love writing? There are so many opportunities for writers online, from becoming a blogger to academic writing.
Before I got a job I would write for people articles they would publish on their blogs and get paid for every article approved.
For instance I- writer, freelancer, falcon writer etc are sites you can check out and see what opportunities they have. All you need to do is to register and get paid for any article submitted once it is approved.
Not only that but academic writing is also a good way to earn money. Basically you will get paid to write academic papers for people.
The good thing about this it doesn’t matter what profession you are in you just need to be a good writer.
2. Social Media Marketer
How many followers do you have on social media? If your answer is thousands then you should be earning as much. Social media marketers earn as much as 30K a month because of brand endorsements and promotions.
Before the year 2016 came to an end, the Daily Nation published an article about some of the highest earning Social Media Marketers in Kenya.
These personalities were all below 30 years and they were cashing in a lot of money from their social media accounts, promoting events, campaigns and advertising brands such as clothing brands or companies.
Therefore if you are always on Facebook, Twitter, IG etc, you should look into getting those deals to start earning. The good thing about it is, it can be done in your free time and it won’t have to affect your work if you are employed.
3. Tutoring
Have you always been a smart student? If you always loved studying and teaching people then this is one of the part time jobs in Kenya you can try. Very many parents are paying for tutoring lessons for their kids.
You can look into tutoring at institutions that offer this or even ask your neighbors and people in your area if they would like to hire you. You need to be able to show that you did well in school and can impact knowledge in the children.
This can be a great way to make extra money and help someone in the process.
4. Research jobs
The beauty about research is that you pick projects that you are confident you can do, and then work on them in your spare time.
Major companies usually outsource market research on various products to independent contractors from time to time. What you may not know is that these jobs pay really well, ranging from 15- 20K or higher.
This, however, depends on the company or the research that you are carrying out. You just have to be really good at multi-tasking and beating deadlines.
5. Offer A Service
It doesn’t have to be anything complicated you can choose to offer basic services such as cleaning,. If you own a bicycle and can ride well, then you can even offer to become a messenger. Messengers are sent to bank cheques, buy stuff, collect parcels, deliver goods and many more.
Whatever service you feel you can offer you should look into it, some people decide to do laundry for others or even cooking. You can also decide to help people with grocery shopping.
There are countless opportunities all you have to do is identify a need in your area and try to fix it.
Whatever your choice, this is a good way to make a few shillings daily.
6. Bartender/Waiter & Waitress
When most people think about being a bartender they think immoral. However, this is not the case everywhere. I had a classmate who worked as a bartender in a club near the university. At first people thought he was just a drunkard but he was able to pay his rent through that venture.
If this is too much for you then you can opt to become a waiter/waitress at a restaurant. If you get a job in a good restaurant then the money you make from tips and your salary would be good money.
7. Tax Consultant
This is for those in the accounting industry. Tax professionals are always high in demand because almost every individual and business in Kenya is required to file tax returns.
Most small business owners and individuals are not well acquainted with taxation which is why they will need the help of someone who does. You can use this to your advantage and make extra cash by offering this service.
Don’t limit yourself when it comes to getting part time jobs in Kenya. Even if it doesn’t fit or match with your chosen profession. It will help you earn some money as well as skills that might help you land a job.
