Linet Toto’s former boda boda driver has spoken out after Kenyans expressed sympathy for him in the wake of the politician’s engagement.
The woman representative got engaged on Valentine’s Day when her fiancé, Godfrey Kimutai, proposed to her in a stunning location that he had prepared especially for the occasion.
Gideon Cheruiyot, whose story about how he transported Toto for free during the campaigning period last year inspired many Kenyans, responded to the suggestion by telling Citizen TV that he was pleased for her to take this new step.
Cheruiyot, who discovered Toto’s engagement on social media, stated that while many people expressed sympathy for him after hearing about her proposal, he and Toto were never romantically involved.
“I have seen those things trending online that Toto left me, and though I thank everyone for their concern, Toto and I were never in a relationship. I was just a volunteer in her campaign and we never got to a point where we were romantically involved,” he said.
He said he was happy for her, adding that he was still waiting for a token of appreciation from the woman rep for the great sacrifice he showed her during the electioneering period.
“We do not get any time to talk like before, and I understand she must be busy. But anytime we have a chance to talk, she tells me that she remembers me and I should not worry,” he said further pleading with her to award her.
