Vocal Embakasi East member of Parliament Babu Owino has finally come to terms with Raila Odinga’s loss in the presidential race.
Reacting to President William Ruto’s maiden parliament address, Babu stated that, indeed, Raila Odinga lost to UDA.
“Leo nimeamini hii kitu ilienda kweli. Ni kama Ndoto. Sasa we must get PAC Chairman as opposition to oversight the Government,” he tweeted.
During the Thursday adress, President William Ruto proposed the renaming of the Kenya Revenue Authority.
In his proposal, the President said the renaming will be part of a culture change to make the authority people friendly.
He wants it to be known as the Kenya Revenue Service.
“We want to make it a people-friendly, customer-centric organization. I am of the view that we rename it The Kenya Revenue Service. In line with the proposed transformation,” Ruto said.
The President said his team will also propose new tax measures that will start moving the country in the right direction.
The proposal to change the name of KRA was first presented by outgoing Treasury CS Ukur Yatani.
The proposal was made during the presentation of the 2022/23 budget, the last under President Uhuru Kenyatta’s tenure.
“In order to align the operations of the Authority to this emerging trend, I propose to amend the Kenya Revenue Authority Act to change the name of the Authority from ‘Kenya Revenue Authority’ to ‘Kenya Revenue Service’,” Yatani said.
