Olympic champion Ezekiel Kemboi has endorsed Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya’s presidential nominee Raila Odinga for Kenya’s presidency.
Kemboi, a multiple world 3000m steeplechase champion, publicly endorsed Raila on Sunday during a rally at Eldoret’s Huruma Grounds.
When the celebrated athlete took the microphone to address the Azimio La Umoja rally crowd, he introduced himself as ‘Amollo,’ appearing to pick Raila’s middle name.
He stated that the Raila government, of which he will be a part, is the best bet for Kenyan youth as the General Election approaches.
“Mimi nimekuja hapa kama last born ya baba, kwa majina naitwa Ezekiel Kemboi Omollo, mkiniona hapa maswali ya vijana itashuglikiwa hamtakuwa mnapiga simu,” Kemboi said
Kemboi has had a glittering career in athletics; in addition to his Olympic and world titles, he is the sixth-fastest runner in history, clocking a time of 7:55.76 in 2011, less than two seconds slower than Qatari athlete Saif Saaeed Shaheen’s world record of 7:53.63.
