Renowned Nairobi lawyer Wahome Thuku has been known for succeeding in mobilising his Facebook followers to raise money for the needy in the society.
Earlier this year he raised 130K to bail out an elderly man held at a Thika Police Station over theft accusations. Christopher Mahiri, 67, was detained after his canter truck was allegedly involved in theft.
Lawyer Wahome Thuku took it upon himself to represent Mzee Christopher Mahiri in court, and even raised the monies for his bail.
Christopher Mahiri, 67, had been detained at Makongeni Police Station over his canter truck that had allegedly been involved in theft at a factory in Thika town.
In a different scenario, the lawyer was also sponsoring another high school student until recently when he was sent home over school fees.
According to his Facebook post, the laywer said they had paid fees for him for only one year but they won’t continue with cause going forward.
“LAST year we raised money here to take a boy to a secondary school in Endarasha. Since we only paid for one year, he has been out of school for the better part of this second year. He has been at home in Othaya, Nyeri for almost two weeks. The father is Rutonated, he spends all his time in Othaya Town singing Ruto the 5th,” Thuku wrote.
Adding:
“If you think you can help him, you can send money we take him back to school. But if you feel the education is unnecessary, Iam with you. Iam with you 50/50 on whether to support him or not. Sio lazima.”
The lawyer has asked other well- wisher to chip in and help on their behalf.
